Fabrizio, Make sure you watch 2 TV news reports on each candidate before you blog, then answer the questions posed. Read the questions and see if you can come up with a better answer.
I am Nicholas Keyes.I watched the debate from 10/15/08. The candidates are Obama and McCain. McCain is a republican and Obama is a demacrat. Obama wants to make more things here and not buy things from other contries. McCian wants to give families $5,000 for health insurance.Obama wants to make college prices lower.Obama wants gun control so kids won't get hurt. McCain wants the parents to be able to choose were their kids go to school. McCian wants people to be able to have guns. The other debate I saw McCain kept on fighting with Obama and told him that he was not president Bush. That is all the information I got watching the two debates.
Nicholas, You don't have to put your name on the blog as Blogger will put your name in for you. You didn't mention if the news reports were harmful or helpful to the candidates. You discussed their issues but not what a news report mentioned and how it affected the candidates possibility of becoming president. Please fix this and add another quick blog.
The news report was harmful to McCain when he talked about education and said the parents get to choose where their kids go to school. The same night the news report said that McCain knew more about worldwide problems. They said that McCain did so good talking about free trade that this would raise his chances of winning the election.
Mrs.McGrath, Free trade is an agreement between two countries. The agreement allows the countries to be able to bring things to sell with out having to pay taxes or fees.
Nicholas, Do you think free trade is fair? If I set up a trade fee or tax in the classroom, and then said that some of you could trade for free if you did certain things, but anyone who wasn't prepared to do certain things would not be allowed to trade, would that be fair trading? There is much talk about "free trade agreements" between South American countries and the USA, and there are businesses that are set up in the USA that deal with "fair trade". I am so glad you found the meaning of "free trade".
Barack obama is helpful because he wanted to help the poor and lower taxes and he wants to keep jobs in America and he wants to focuss on education and the last thing barack obama wants to do is have affardable heath care. john mcain wants to lower taxes for the rich and raise taxes for the poor he wants to send out american jobs to other countries...
hi my name is daniella barack obama said that he wanted to help the poor people and lower taxes and he wanted to keep jobs in america he also wanted to focuss on education andthe last thing he wanted to do was to have affardable health care. john mcain wanted to lower taxes for the rich and raise taxes for the poor the last thing john mcain wanted to do is send out american jobs to other countries.
For the first news report I did Obama. He raised 150 million dollars for his campaign. I thought it was helpful to him because he made a lot of money and he could get more voters. The second one I did on Obama was about how he would be a better President. 56% say that he would do a better job on the economy. 63% say he would do a better job with providing help to the middle class. I also think that it was helpful to him because he might get more voters if they see that he could make a better President. Then, I did one for McCain and they said that he voted 19 times against raising the minimum wage and 5 times to increase it. I think it was harmful to him because he could lose voters if they found that out. The second one that I did on McCain was saying that he dispatched Sen. Mel Martinez to Miami. I think it was helpful to him because he could get more voters.
The canidates are John McCain and Barak Obama.Obama is a democrat and McCain is a republican.Obama wants to make 5,000,000 jobs for working Americans. It affected his chance of becoming President because, some people can`t afford jobs and they need money. So they want him to be President so they can work and get money. It would be helpful to Obama.John McCain will raise the heath care for working families. It mmade his chance of being President drop because, some families don`t have health care and in case of emergencies and if they don`t have they can`t pay for it.It would be harmful to McCain.
Daniella---- The question is whether or not the REPORT is harmful or helpful to the candidates, Barack Obama and John McCain. In other words, did the news report make Barack Obama or John McCain look good or bad and will the news report help the candidates gain or lose votes?
Travis---How were the REPORTS on the news harmful or helpful to both candidates campaigns? In other words, did the news reports help the candidates gain or lose votes and did the news reports make the candidates look good or bad?
No. I do not think free trade is fair because the free trade agreement allows only the two countries to trade with no fees or taxes. It would be fair if all every contry had the same agreement. I would not like it if you set up a fee or tax in the classroom that only some people had to pay. I think everybody needs to be treated the same way to make it fair.
The reports about Obama was helpful and the reports about McCain was harmful.Obama reports made him look good and McCain look bad.The report on Obama made him gain votes and the report on McCain made him lose votes.
Kindall- You still need to provide more information. Which videos did you watch, who were they about, what did they say about the candidate and were the reports harmful or helpful to the candidates?
Obama wants to cut taxes for the middle class and that’s helpful because the middle class is the people that are not rich and the people that are not poor. McCain wants to give the upper class a cut on taxes and that is harmful to us because then the richer people will be getting more money and we won’t. McCain wants to give a $5,000 credit for health insurance to the people that need money to reduce there insurance and that is helpful for us because some people need the money. Obama wants to give an affordable insurance plain and that is harmful to us because you don’t know what is affordable.
On NBC Obama said he will bring the troops back home. The people want the troops back too. This was helpful for Obama's votes. On another NBC news they said Obama talked to Joe who is a plubmer. Joe told Obama he didn't like the law he will have on paying more taxes for making more money. Joe also said that sounds like socialism. Socialism means taking money from the rich to give to the poor so it is even. This was harmful for Obama. On ABC Obama said Mccain had the same laws as Bush. The people don't like Bush. This was harmful for McCain's votes
One of the videos I watched was talking about Barak Obama telling us about the war going on which was helpful. Then another one with Obama was on a little bit of everything which was helpful. Then I watched a John McCain video telling us about the horrible things about Obama which was harmful. The last one was McCain talking about Sarah Palin which was harmful because he was not tlaking about any issues.
I watched 2 reports on John McCain. The first one was October 28 on MSNBC. A reporter talked to Steve Forbes who is with the McCain campaign. They talked about how the economy is doing and which candidate can handle it better. It was helpful to John McCain. The next report I watched on John McCain was on Wednesday, October 29. It was also from MSNBC. The reporter’s name was Jonathan Darman. He talked about 2 sides of John McCain. One side was where he got down and dirty and was a fighter. The other side was when he was kind and good spirited. Jonathan Darman said that McCain was showing more of a fighter side than a good spirited side. This was a little of both but more harmful than helpful. I watched 2 reports of Barack Obama. One was from October 23 with Barbara West from WFTV. She was interviewing Joe Biden. Barbara asked about Acorn and how it was helpful to Barack Obama. She also asked about spreading the wealth around. Biden got very upset about that. It was harmful to Barack Obama. The second one was on October 29 on Fox News. The reporter was Bill O’Reilly. He was speaking to Dick Morris. They were talking about Obama’s 30 minute paid ad being run on a lot of channels. They said he didn’t have anything new to say. This was hurtful to Barack Obama.
Madison, Fabrizio, Dylan, and Kindall. Great thoughts. I enjoyed reading your blogs all at one time as you discussed so many issues. Don't forget to vote!
I watched the news clip on Senator Barack Obama that aired on 10/29/2008 about his visit to Kissimmee campaigning with former President Bill Clinton. It said about 35,000 people came to see them speak. He spoke about the failures of the past 8 years and how he is going to make it better. This news clip was helpful for his campaign because persuaded people to vote for him.
I watched the news clip for 10/30/2008 about Obama making his case in Florida. Obama is spending lots of time in Florida, making his case for the presidency to voters all across the Sunshine State. He said …”you don’t need to boo, you need to vote.” There was a lot of positive feedback from the goers. This was helpful because a lot of the voters are deciding to vote for Obama.
I watched the news clip that aired on 10/14/2008 on McCain. He was questioned by Barbara West about voter registration fraud that is occurring across the nation and how he was going to deal with it. This was harmful to him because he did not give a straight answer on what he was going to do.
I watched the news clip on 10/30/2008 on McCain and the economy. He pledges to get the economy ‘out of the ditch’ if he is elected president. He criticized Obama and his thoughts of higher taxes. This was helpful to McCain because he showed himself in a positive light.
The first news report I watched to was “Countdown: McCain Makes a False Assertion” on CBS News. I know it was harmful to McCain because he is being accused of not knowing the right timeline of the surge in Iraq. The surge is the increase in the military in Iraq. This makes him look like he is unprepared. The 2nd news report I watched was “Fox Attacks Obama.” I think it was harmful to Obama because they accused him of being a smoker, but Obama says that it’s not true. They are also accusing him of attending a Muslim school as a child. They also asked what ha she really done for African-Americans to deserve their vote. So this news report was not helpful at all for Obama. The 3rd news report I watched was “Barack Obama” on ABC World News Tonight. I thought it was helpful to Obama because it was about him being the top of his class at Harvard when he graduated. He also was the Editor of the Harvard Law Review. Since he was the top of his class of all these future leaders at Harvard, he then realized he could probably run for President The last news report I watched was FOX News Report “McCain Lies to his Own Campaign Staff?” I know this was harmful because they accused him of not being honest about going to his meetings. This is his third time not being there. Some people think that their strategy is not very good.
For the first 2 news reports I did Obama. He said in his speech what he would do if he were President like ending the war in Iraq unlike McCain would do and I think that was helfful. The 2 one I did one Obama was also about what he would do if he were the President like if you make less than a quarter million a year you won't see your income tax go up, your capital tax go up or your premeal tax go up. The next 2 I did was McCain. The first one I did one McCain he saidin his speech what he would do if he were President like stand by your side and fight for your future. The 2 one I did on McCain he said that he would give you a raise no matter if you made a certain amount of money or if you were rich or poor.
Alex- McCain is taking about what happened to him in the past and what is happening now. I think that is helpful. McCain sufers difuclt problems. I think that is helpful. Obama and Clinton are getting together. I think that is harmful. Obama is taking about what happened to him in the past and what is happening now.
I watched sen.mccain and sen.obama news reports online, and they were talking about the troops in iraq.I think the news report helped obamas campaign more than it helped mccain because john mccain was dealing with somthing like iraq in 1993 and he said that ''there is no end in sight''.
I watched a news report about John McCain picking Sarah Palin as his running mate. I think this was helpful because she is young and a new face in politics and she is a reformer. I also watched a news report on where John McCain said he like Senator Obama as a person an that he is a good man. He just disagrees with him on some political views. This was helpful to John McCain because it shows that he likes people that are different from him. Next I watched a news report on misconceptions of Barack Obama where some people think Obama is a wolf in sheep clothing. They say he is not a Christian, friends with terrorists and is against white people. This is harmful to Obama because they are saying mean things about him that might not be true. Last I watched a video letter from a soldier to Obama. The soldier said in Iraq there is a need for us to be there. He said "the day we loose our will to fight is the day we loose our freedom." This is harmful to Obama because he thought there was no need to be in Iraq any longer.
The first news I watched was an ABC News report about Obama. He was talking to a man who wanted to buy a business, but knew it would raise taxes. Obama explained that nobody likes taxes, but we need them to keep the country running, and that only people who make a lot of money will be taxed. This helped Obama. The second report was the issue of experience over Obama. It took a recording of Obama from four years ago saying that he himself thought he had little experience. This hurt Obama. The third report was about how Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger supported McCain, and how we don’t have to question McCain’s leadership. It was helpful for John McCain. The last report explained John McCain’s six expensive homes, and how he does not understand the middle class. This hurt John McCain.
I saw 2 news reports on the internet about john mccain. Both of the news reports are harmful to john mccain because the first one i saw was about the meidia againts mccain. The second news report was about how mccain wanted to raise taxes for poor people.
